About Addie:

Addie has an impressive playing and coaching resume. At age 15, Addie moved away from home to attend an elite female hockey school in Warner, Alberta, and captured two provincial championships during that time. Addie was then scouted to attend the University of Manitoba Bisons where she played her entire five-year University Sport career. During her time as a Bison, Addie was named team MVP three consecutive years, won two Canada West Championships, and was named Female Athlete of the Year in 2012. Addie was also selected as a member of Team Canada in 2011 for the FISU games in Erzerum, Turkey and helped the team win a gold medal. Since graduating from University, Addie has been heavily involved in coaching in the female hockey community. She spent time coaching high school hockey and time as the Assistant Coach for the University of Manitoba Bisons. Currently, Addie is the power skating and skills coach for the University of Manitoba Bisons and is a driving force for The Rink Team leading the development for our female programming.

About Maggie:

Maggie has an impressive playing and coaching career. She played five full seasons with the University of Manitoba Bisons women’s hockey team and served as team captain in her final year. In 2015, Maggie represented Canada at the FISU games in Granada, Spain, and helped her country earn a silver medal. After University, Maggie moved to Sweden to play for SDE Hockey in the Swedish Women’s Hockey League (SDHL). During that time, Maggie served as an assistant captain and led the team in points. When her playing days finished, Maggie stayed in Sweden to serve as the head coach for the SDE Hockey team she played for, and to be the Chief Director of SDE’s minor female skill development. Maggie is in the process of attaining her HP1 coaching certificate, and brings a wealth of knowledge and international experience to The Rink Team.

About Amanda:

Born in Winnipeg, Amanda has taken her hockey career to Europe. Amanda plays for the KJT club in Finland and has a large amount of experience to bring back to the GDI Team. Schubert also played 5 full seasons as a member of the University of Manitoba Bisons. During her time as a Bison, Amanda was able to add a team MVP and two time Canada West Finalist to the list of her accomplishments. Amanda has been responsible for helping grow the number of female goalies in the city by leading the female goalie camps at Miles Female Hockey Day and by also helping instruct at the Scotiabank hockey day here in Winnipeg. Amanda has trained at GDI for a number of years and now looks to share her knowledge of the game as a member of the GDI team.

About Sydney: 

Hockey has always played a crucial role in Sydney's life. Born in the United States and moving to Canada, Sydney has played hockey her whole life including a career in the Manitoba Women's Junior Hockey League (MWJHL). Sydney is a current member of the Team Canada Bandy Program and was a part of the 2015 World Cup roster. In 2015, Sydney was a graduate player of the St. Mary’s Academy High School hockey team and continues to dedicate her efforts to the program as an Assistant Coach for the team today. One of Sydney’s best hockey memories was working with the Ohio Special Needs Program and seeing the players’ joy in learning the game of hockey. Outside of hockey, Sydney is a student at the University of Manitoba and is perusing a career in Education.

About Taylor:

Taylor has been a member of The Rink Team for many years and brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience. Taylor’s competitive hockey career includes time with the St. Mary’s Academy High School team as well as the U-18 Jr. Bisons AAA team. Taylor also has experience as a Team Leader with Hockey Manitoba and has worked alongside our Director of Female Player Development Addie Miles-Abbott at The Miles Female Hockey Day. Taylor currently attends University of Manitoba where she is working to attain her Bachelor of Kinesiology.

About Devan: 

Playing men’s high school hockey, Devan received the Santa Lucia Rookie of the Year Award for the WHSHL that contributed to her making Manitoba’s U18 Women’s Hockey team in 2013 as well as the 2015 Canadian Winter Games the following year with Team Manitoba. 2017-2018 season was her first year of CIS as she is part of the University of Manitoba Bisons. Devan has been training at GDI since 2011, as well as working as an instructor at GDI since 2016.

As an instructor, Devan stresses the importance of consistency through the technical details of the position.

About Gretta:

Gretta is a multi-sport athlete playing sports competitively that include hockey, golf, ultimate, and flag-football. Her efforts in her sports earned her a spot on the Under-18 Team Manitoba Flag Football. Growing up, Gretta played in the Winnipeg minor hockey system as a member of the APHA Rangers and also played with the AAA Western Warriors during the Spring seasons. One of Gretta’s best hockey memories was where she helped the Warriors capture a first-place finish and a gold medal in the North American Classic tournament. Gretta is now dedicating her time on growing female hockey at the grass roots level as a member of The Rink Team.

About Olivia:

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Olivia grew up playing hockey her entire life. Her competitive career led her to be a member of the APHA Rangers programs. During her time as a Ranger, Olivia was a member of the leadership group serving as an assistant captain leading her teams to very successful seasons. Furthermore, Olivia was a member off the AAA Manitoba Ice Spring program for 3 seasons. Olivia has a passion for helping grow the female game and to give girls the same positive experiences she had as a player growing up. Olivia is currently pursuing a post-secondary education studying Environmental Design at the University of Manitoba. Olivia brings a great knowledge and passion as a member of The Rink Team.

About Halle: 

Halle grew up playing hockey in her hometown of Sanford, Manitoba. Moving onto competitive hockey, Halle played her AAA hockey with the Pembina Valley Hawks of the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League (MFMHL) where she helped the team appear in back-to-back finals, as well as clinch one Championship. Having finished high school, Halle is now a member of the University of Alberta Pandas. Leading up to her commitment to play U-Sports hockey, Halle competed in the 2017 Esso Cup Championship, played for the U18 Team Manitoba, and represented Canada at the IIHF U-18 National Women’s Hockey Challenge. Halle has trained with GDI since 2016 and is always eager to share her knowledge as a member of the GDI Team.
