The RINK Training Centre Summer Development Camps are half-day camps which involves one 60-minute ice session, one 45-minute dryland with Testify Performance and one 60-minute interactive boardroom. Evening Camps are on-ice only camps that run 5 days a week during the same time slot.

Power Skating Camp

The Development Power Skating Camp is a half-day camp which involves one 60-minute ice session, one 45-minute dryland with Testify Performance and one 60-minute interactive boardroom, all designed to challenge each skater to the best of the abilities throughout the week.

The camp concentrates on proper body position while skating forwards and backwards. Also, focusing on forwards and backwards stride, crossover starts and tight turns. The Power Skating Camp allows for instantaneous instruction and direction from our professional on-ice player development coaches.

Puck Control Camp

The Development Puck Control Camp is a half-day camp which involves one 60-minute ice session, one 45-minute dryland with Testify Performance and one 60-minute interactive boardroom all designed to develop players’ abilities to control the puck in a variety of game-like situations.

This camp creates confidence in players’ abilities to control their stick properly through learning about stick etiquette, full control of their top and bottom hands, puck control at top speed, and creativity while working on their stickhandling technique. The Puck Control Camp takes a focused approach on fundamental progression and repetition to ensure players develop good habits, while having fun.

Shooting & Scoring Camp

The Development Shooting and Scoring Camp is a half-day camp which involves one 60-minute ice session, one 45-minute dryland with Testify Performance and one 60-minute interactive boardroom, all designed to provide skaters with fundamental knowledge of proper shooting mechanics. This camp begins with the basics, working on passing techniques and accuracy to make the transition into shooting as seamless as possible.

Progressing skaters quickly into technical applications of proper puck preparation and weight transfer leading to faster and more accurate shots. Keeping players engaged, our professional on-ice player development coaches will challenge skates to learn how to receive and pass and shoot quickly. This camp allocates skaters to have a puck on their stick throughout the entirety of the program.

Battle & Compete

This camp will focus on several techniques that players will find useful in games when trying to get the puck from the opponent. Stick steals and different skills within it will give players the tools to quickly steal the puck from the opposing team.

Players will also learn a number of techniques to keep control of the puck by using their body and stick while protecting the puck both on and off the boards. This is a great camp for players to increase their intensity before they go for tryouts.

Our Tryout Prep Camp is a great way to keep up your players’ development, even in the summer months. Our professional coaches will be running full day camps that combine both on-ice and off-ice elements in a manner that strikes a balance between fun and developing new skills, getting your player ready for the season ahead.

This camp creates confidence in players to be able to carry the puck at full speed on both sides of their body. Skaters will be challenged to get comfortable controlling the puck in all three positions around their body (forehand, backhand, and mid-body) and be able to make a play from all three positions.

Our coaching staff will introduce weight awareness while stickhandling to maximize total puck control. The Puck Control camp takes a focused approach building on fundamental progression and repetition to ensure players develop good habits.

Shooting & Scoring Camp

This camp builds on the basics of the shooting technique and works on puck preparation in motion.

Players will be introduced to the “Push/Pull” synchronization to create more power on their shots. Our professional on-ice player development coaches will introduce the receive and shoot quick release skill to challenge the quickness of the players shots. This program introduces new skills with intentions to build on and master the fundamentals of shooting.

The R1 Prep Program for Forwards is a position specific program which will focus on technical teachings as well as game-like situations that are specific to forwards.

Our professional coaches will focus on areas of the game such as puck protection both on and off the boards, shooting in stride and changing the angle, and stickhandling in traffic, that are crucial to getting players ready for the upcoming season.

By building on players’ wrist shot technique players will be challenged with new ways to generate power and accuracy on their shoots. Learning to change the angle of a shot is something that is extremely important in the game of hockey today and will be extremely useful for players in their seasons.

Players will also learn about receive and shoot techniques, getting them ready for the upcoming season.
